Construction

Carson Helicopters pioneered the first industrial use of helicopters in 1963. With Carson modifications, the Sikorsky S61 Helicopter is capable of air lifting external cargo loads up to 11,000 lbs, as well as carrying internal cargo and personnel operating under Part 135 of the FAR’s.
The Carson S61 can pour concrete and erect steel structures in areas where ground-based cranes are not suitable. Soft or swamp ground, steep mountain terrain, environmentally-protected areas and offshore islands are easily accessed. Expensive road construction and environmental restrictions can be overcome by the S61, allowing cost effective construction in places where installations would otherwise be impossible or cost prohibitive.
The improved Carson S61 can cost effectively erect, remove and replace all types of antennas and antenna towers in locations that are inaccessible by heavy equipment from the ground. Soft or swamp ground, steep and rocky mountain terrain, as well as offshore islands, are not obstacles. Experienced pilots can work with tower sections up to 2,000 feet in height, ensuring that jobs are completed in a fraction of the time required by ground transportation and mobile cranes.
